During the May 23rd episode of WWE Raw, it was announced that Lacey Evans will finally make her return to in-ring action, the week after. There’s no update was provided on who she would be facing in the match as we expected an update on the same as days progressed. The match was never plugged in, again alongside the other segments promoted for the May 30th episode.
Eventually, the return of Evans was nixed out of the Hell in a Cell 2022 go-home episode of WWE Raw. The announcers didn’t mention why the WWE Superstar didn’t compete, this week. The initial thought was that WWE wanted the former United States Marine to make her big return on the special Memorial Day episode as it could perfectly fit into her gimmick. But her comeback will have to wait for a later episode.

WWE Raw Superstar was laid up due to her Grand Marshal duties?
It should be noted that Evans was tweeting before the live telecast of this week’s WWE Raw and in one of them, she stated that “GRAND MARSHAL duties got me laid up.” She also shared a photo of herself resting on her couch with ice packs in her arms.
“I Get More Nervous For Promos,” WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey Admits
It appears that she hurt her biceps by flexing those on various occasions during this past Sunday’s NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in which she was invited as the Grand Marshal. There’s no update available on whether she was portraying a kayfabe injury to cover up her absence from WWE Raw.
WWE previously aired a series of five vignettes to build up Evans’ return after a hiatus that lasted for almost one and a half years. The series then ended in early May on SmackDown as Evans re-debuted with a new theme song.
She was thereby introduced to the live audience with a new gimmick that also earned her a big babyface pop. Despite the vignettes airing on Smackdown, she was quietly moved to WWE Raw roster internally, and a report suggested she would be working as a heel. To date, there’s been no indication of her changing her current gimmick. There’s no update either on whether the absence from this Memorial Day weekend episode of Raw had to do anything with that.
Meanwhile, we haven’t seen Evans competing in a ring since the February 15, 2021 episode of WWE Raw, where she and Peyton Royce took a loss to Asuka and Charlotte Flair.
