One of the top WWE Smackdown superstars, Cesaro has reportedly left the company, as per the recent reports. Things were hush-hush around his release, according to PWInsider. His contract came to an end and WWE didn’t get on the same page with him which resulted in this inevitable release. Some also see this departure as a foreseeable happening.
The former mid-card superstar was originally scheduled to be at a recent WWE SmackDown taping in Hershey, Pennsylvania, but he wasn’t there after the release was confirmed by multiple sources. Numerous past and present WWE Superstars including RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Bayley, Xavier Woods, Natalya, and more reacted to the release to let their mind know.

In an update to the situation, Fightful Select reported that the immediate reaction to the departure of the WWE Smackdown superstar was from people within the company was that they were in disappointment and dismay. This was expected as he was one of the most well-liked superstars on the roster.
Cesaro’s departure is also not a case of WWE not willing to re-hire him. He was reportedly offered a new contract, but sources within the WWE suggested that it was rejected. Interestingly, the source noted that there’s still a real possibility that Cesaro may end up re-signing with WWE until he signs with someone else.

Numerous sources within WWE mentioned how the departure does not appear to be a “door completely closed” situation, as the former WWE Smackdown star is still on good terms with the company. Also, he is reportedly free to sign with promotion as early as he wants to since he is not under any kind of non-compete clause due to the contract expiring.
The 41-year-old Swiss Superstar signed with WWE in 2011 after a successful run with ROH and the indie scene. He leaves WWE a five-time RAW/WWE Tag Team Champion, a two-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and a one-time WWE United States Champion. Plus, he also emerged as the winner of Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.
There is no word yet on whether Cesaro could be in demand from AEW, Impact Wrestling, or NJPW. He last featured in a match on WWE Smackdown February 11 episode which was a loss to Happy Corbin.
