Former WWE commentator Renee Young who is the wife of AEW star Jon Moxley recently talked about the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships. She criticized WWE for not being able to book the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships properly.
The Women’s Tag Team championships of WWE is one of the most recent titles of the promotion. It had been anticipated by the fans for a very long time. Finally the much awaited championships came into LimeLight for the first time in December 2018 and it was won at the Elimination Chamber pay per view event of 2019 for the first time.
Renee Young Criticizes WWE For Booking Women’s Tag Team Championship Weak
It was not the first time WWE brought the women’s Tag Team Championship. The first time these titles came into the LimeLight was back in 1983 and the titles existed for nearly 6 years. This history is nearly forgotten and WWE does not associate their new Women’s Tag Team championships with the previous ones.
When the women’s Tag Team championships where first defended inside the Elimination Chamber in 2019, it seemed like this could be one of the most interesting segments of the promotion, it also seemed like WWE had big plans about these pair of titles. But as soon as the covid 19 pandemic struck, WWE became really lazy with these titles.
There was a point when it seemed like WWE is deliberately destroying the championships when they were splitting all the women’s tag teams for absolutely no reason. And after the recent chaos made by Sasha Banks and Naomi, it looks like the future of these two championships are in serious danger.
Renee Young who is the wife of AEW star Jon Moxley recently spoke on her Throwing Down podcast where she talked about the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships. She criticized WWE for not being able to book the WWE Women’s Tag Team championships properly. She said;
“The women’s tag titles have only existed in WWE for a couple of years and as soon as they were brought into the fold, they were important for about 30 seconds, and then nobody cared anymore.
There was no true women’s tag teams and they just lost their luster really really quickly. I guess, best case is that they finally let these women do what they want to do and start really working on the tag division.”
