Results from WWE Mixed Match Challenge Season II Premiere: September 18, 2018

WWE Mixed Match Challenge was back on Facebook Live starting from last night. Officials changed some schedules due to the airing of this particular program. It took place on a live format on the social media just after Smackdown Live went off the air.

Originally WWE 205 Live show uses this slot on the WWE Network. But Mixed Match Challenge pushed this show to tomorrow night. There was no dark match segment, either.

The exclusive show will now take place on Wednesday Nights before the NXT show on WWE Network. Mixed Match Challenge, on the other hand, is likely to stay in the programming until the TLC PPV in December. The favourite show comprising numerous mixed tag teams also came up with a changed format, this season. It hosted two matches instead of one like earlier season.

The opening contest of Mixed Match Challenge featured Braun Strowman and Ember Moon. They were up against the team of Kevin Owens and Natalya. Originally, Alexa Bliss was the partner of Braun Strowman reforming Team Little Big. But an elbow injury prevented her from taking part in this competition. Ember Moon faired enough in her first match showing good chemistry with her partner.

But the veteran Natalya overtook her by locking in the Sharpshooter after initial back and forth goings. But Braun Strowman broke the submission attempt forcing Kevin Owens to enter the match. Owens got these hands in the following way as stated in WWE.com,

“The Monster Among Men was relentless, going in on Owens with a brutal flurry of offence. KO attempted to slow Strowman down by chucking him into the post and over the announce table, but Braun battled back with some devastating strikes before Owens made a dashing tag to Natalya.”

In the end, Braun Strowman made the tag to Ember Moon to let her hit the Eclipse on Natalya for the pinfall. It sent this brand new team to the next round of Mixed Match Challenge on Facebook Live. The next match featured AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair going up against Jimmy Uso and Naomi.

The real-life couple fell short against the prime names from Smackdown roster. Charlotte and Naomi were in action when the latter one tried to dive onto AJ Styles. Charlotte came up with her fly to take out both Naomi and Uso. The action continued, as Charlotte locked in The Figure-eight on Uso and Naomi hit AJ with a rearview. Sooner, The Glow got caught within the Figure-Eight from Charlotte only to tap out. AJ and Charlotte advanced to the second round of the tournament, as well.
