Smackdown Live ended on an unusual note this week once the main event match was over. It was the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston who defeated AJ Styles in a huge Champion vs. Champion matchup on the show. But that was not the end of Smackdown as we headed to the backstage area where Roman Reigns was waiting for an interview with Kayla Braxton. He was about to let us know about a potential Summerslam challenge.

But that did not happen as Kayla saw a set of steel steps quickly moving towards her guest. Roman Reigns barely escaped the scene but he could not get out of the harm’s way and found himself injured. EMTs ran down to the spot to check him immediately. But The Big Dog was able to sit down on his own power refusing any kind of medical attention. Hopefully, he did not suffer any injury just days prior to the Summerslam PPV.

But the question remains who would be attacking Roman Reigns in such a way that could have ended his career. The way that steel package fell off, it could have been life-threatening, as well. Twitter user Sean Cross Sapp hinted who could be the attacker and it’s not Samoa Joe. Despite these two involved in a current rivalry, it was not the Samoan superstar who wanted to do such a nasty thing to his opponent.

As pointed by Sapp, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy was walking around the moment Roman Reigns walked out of the TV screen. It happened at the very last moment of last night’s Smackdown before the show went off the air. Murphy was leaving the arena at the same time hinting that it might have been him who conducted the misdeed ruining a Summerslam announcement.

WWE won’t confirm the attacker of Smackdown Live, for now as to keep the suspense intact around the storyline. But we don’t have to wait too long to know more on this as next week marks the final episodes of WWE Raw and Smackdown prior to Summerslam. If WWE does have a match planned for Roman Reigns at the PPV then the mystery attacker is soon getting disclosed.
