Over the past couple of years, Rhea Ripley has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the WWE in its women’s division. Over on Raw, she has become one of the main attractions. Especially, her status was elevated after winning the Royal Rumble Match 2023 edition for the female superstars to secure a huge championship match at WrestleMania 39.
Being a cornerstone figure amidst the growing landscape for the women superstars in the company, Rhea Ripley is playing a key role in the change. One of the rare aspects that she has brought back into the WWE scene is to compete in the intergender matches that have otherwise become scarce. Plus, she has been in several physical confrontations with male superstars on a regular basis.

Rhea Ripley talked about this changing time in the WWE where she gets to be a part of the women’s division. She’s really happy to see these talents develop and thrive as spoken during a recent interview with Checkpoint. She revealed that initially she wasn’t sure about women competing in WrestleMania main events or in intergender matches but things did become a reality.

Rhea Ripley thinks women have taken themselves to the men’s level in the WWE
The Australian Superstar also thinks that women are shattering the barriers in every aspect of wrestling and proving that they can go toe-to-toe with men to be on the same level. On that note, she also mentioned her match against Akira Tozawa on Raw in December as an example since it has garnered tons of attention amongst the fans.
“Like you said, having a match against Tozawa on ‘WWE Raw’ television. That’s something I didn’t think would happen, especially to someone like me. I didn’t think it would be in my timeline,” Rhea Ripley stated.
I thought it would still be down a little bit, like we’d have to work toward that one. But to know that it’s all changing and evolving so quickly, I’m so intrigued and excited to see what the future holds for the women’s division because we’re growing and you can’t really stop us. We’re shining.”
As noted above, Rhea Ripley has made it look simple to compete against the WWE male Superstars and possibly dominate them in matches or even physical fights. In the future, we might get to see her doing the same even more. Although intergender matches have become rare, WWE hasn’t fully abandoned them. Most notably in 1999, Chyna competed against Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title, while Alexa Bliss also took on Randy Orton in the main event of Fastlane 2021.
