Without a shadow of a doubt, Roman Reigns is putting up a lifetime act via his Tribal Chief gimmick over on Smackdown. The shtick has been praised by fans and critics, universally as he continues to expand his undefeated streak. For the record, he hasn’t been pinned or submitted since December 2019 which itself is an incredible stat. Now, he is on his way to Summerslam 2021 for a mega title defense.
Heading into the match, Roman Reigns claims to be the very best that WWE has to offer. The WWE Universal Champion appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to blast his SummerSlam opponent, John Cena. McAfee, the current SmackDown commentator with Michael Cole, asked Reigns to give his opinion on John Cena as a human being.
In reply, the current number-one contender for the Universal Title was accused of cosplaying a different personality while appearing in a WWE ring.
“Man, like anybody at the top of their game or in an elevated position, I think there’s a polarizing effect,” Roman Reigns mentioned about Cena while also pointing out that he’s the greatest story-teller of this generation. “There’s a lot of good things John Cena has done… obviously Make-A-Wish, he’s a very charitable guy, but when it comes to our profession of sports entertainment, he’s levels below me in this game. You know what I mean? Entertainment is story-telling, right? I’m the greatest story-teller of our generation, of our time.”

“He’s a big name, he’s a big star, he’s a movie star now. But he, like so many other greats, they camouflage themselves. They disguise themselves. You see me every Friday night, I have to dull this s–t down. You know what I mean? I come out there in some sweatpants and some J’s. I don’t have to throw on the crazy colors, wear wristbands all over my body. I don’t have to make myself something that I’m not.”
Roman Reigns has some advice for John Cena
Moving on, Roman Reigns also accused John Cena of cashing on him to move some ticket-selling for his latest film, The Suicide Squad. He also mentioned that the Cenation Leader will next move to Europe for the filming of Argyle about which he doesn’t have any problem. But Roman doesn’t want the WWE franchise player to visit Las Vegas to face him for the Universal Title.
If Cena does show up for this mega match then it was noted by Roman Reigns that he’d give him the beatdown of a lifetime just like he did at the legends (Daniel Bryan and Edge) at Wrestlemania 37,
“Go to ‘Argylle’, go to Europe and start filming, don’t go to Vegas. That’s what I’m saying – do not go to Vegas, because we’re going to smash you, we’re going to pack you on a private jet, we’re going to send you across the pond, and it’s done, man. I’m telling you now, get while the going is good, the table is hot, but it’s time to leave because I’m about to shut this heater down, man. I’m telling you, just like I did the Legends at WrestleMania 37.”
John Cena would not back down from the challenge he threw at the Head of the Table and the man event of Summerslam 2021 will be intact, per the storyline. The challenger wasn’t present on Smackdown, this past week on TV but he will be there, tomorrow night to address the upcoming title match opportunity where he could become a 17-time world champion.
