ToggleFor almost two and half years, Roman Reigns has been the reigning champion in the WWE which has now reached yet another milestone. He originally defeated Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat at Payback 2020. Counting from that night, he hit the 900th-day championship landmark on February 16.
Roman Reigns longest champion in modern era
With that, Roman Reigns has become the longest WWE world championship reign in over 30 years. Hulk Hogan’s 1984-1988 WWE Championship reign was the last one to surpass Reigns’ title reign when it comes to length. Overall, there are four names who are ahead of the top WWE Superstar but all of those reigns took place in the non-modern era of the WWE. Here goes the list,
– Pedro Morales (1027 days)
– Hulk Hogan (1474 days)
– Bob Backlund (2135 days)
– Bruno Sammartino (2803 days)

Roman Reigns unified top world titles of the WWE
Moving on as the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns became a dual champion. On April 3, 2022, in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night Two, he defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship to unify the WWE and Universal titles and become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
With the longest title reign continuing, Roman Reigns have already headlined two WrestleManias and walked into and out of the show with the title. If he can go through one more title defense, he can certainly expect to repeat the same instance and possibly remain a champion for 1000 days.
During the 900-day title reign, the title was defended for 26 times against names like Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, and more. Next, Roman Reigns will defend against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber on February 18. Title retention means he will enter Wrestlemania 39 as the champion to defend against the 2023 Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes.
