Roman Reigns is the reigning WWE Universal Champion on SmackDown who is unarguably putting up perhaps the best shtick of his career. The Tribal Chief gimmick has been able to put him back in the top superstar’s spot in the company, right now. He has also proven himself to be a top heel who is coming with great character work and in-ring skills, each and every week.
With Paul Heyman by his side, Roman Reigns has simply been able to put himself in another sphere that is an untouchable position. This all began after WWE turned him heel, last year at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view. This marked his comeback after being out of action for almost five months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Eva Marie: Current Plans For WWE To Use The Eva-Lution On Raw
This villainous turn was a long time coming as Roman Reigns was pushed as a babyface for years while fans kept on booing him in all those years. So the heel-turn happened, organically and the belief is that eventually, a natural babyface run is also in store.

Roman Reigns will eventually turn babyface
While speaking to Chris Featherstone, Roman Reigns’ FCW trainer and WWE legend Dr. Tom Prichard talked about the current character portrayed by him. Prichard believes that his former disciple will eventually have another ‘babyface explosion.’ When it happens, The Head of the Table will be respected on the same lines as that of The Rock, John Cena, or Kurt Angle.
“So, all those things are going to add up to a culmination of his career, and eventually, there is going to be a change and another babyface run or another babyface explosion, but don’t do it until it’s absolutely necessary because Paul Heyman is, man, between him and Cornette, they both, two of the greatest promos ever in professional wrestling and Reigns ain’t too bad either. As long as he gets to be himself. Yeah. I certainly think there is another babyface run for Roman Reigns,” elaborated Prichard.
Speculations Rise On WWE Potentially Gearing Up For Sale
The insider belief is that the treatment for the Universal Champion will be similar to The Rock’s heel run until 1999. When he turned face, it was the biggest one in the company’s history and his cousin might enjoy similar reactions, down the road.
For the time being, Roman Reigns will continue to be a heel on SmackDown for the foreseeable. There’s no update on his title run ending sooner as he simply has been booked as a strong champion since the title win, last year at Payback PPV. We will have to wait and see when that babyface turn eventually happens.
