Since his return to the WWE in August of 2020, Roman Reigns has been incredibly dominant as a champion. First, he was the Universal Champion but then he has sworn in WWE as the Undisputed Universal Champion at Wrestlemania 38. During this ongoing reign, The Head Of The Table continues to rule over Friday Night Smackdown with an iron fist.
In the main event of WWE Clash at the Castle 2022, Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This win was achieved after protecting Drew McIntyre as Solo Sikoa (younger brother of The Usos) from NXT 2.0 attacked McIntyre. Capitalizing on the distraction, The Tribal Chief ended up hitting the Spear and pinning McIntyre to pick up the win.

As of this writing, Roman Reigns is not scheduled to compete at the Extreme Rules premium live event on October 8th. He is not present in the promotional graphic released for the upcoming event and nor WWE is scheduling him on Smackdown for a buildup. His next title defense is possibly happening at the Crown Jewel PPV event in early November.

Uncertainties over Roman Reigns’ next opponent for title match
With that, there have been speculations around the next opponent of Roman Reigns which will not be an obvious choice either. In recent times, the likes of Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins hinted at being the next challenger for the champion which may not be the case.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, neither Owens nor Seth Rollins is scheduled to face Roman Reigns in his next title match that’s possibly happening at Crown Jewel,
“Reigns is not on Extreme Rules on 10/8 in Philadelphia, and his next major match is on the Saudi Arabia show. I was told it’s not Seth Rollins or Kevin Owens, even though both have teased it, and based on build one would expect those two matches at some point.”
During his almost 750-day title reign, Roman Reigns put his championship on line 24 separate times against the likes of Rey Mysterio, Bryan Danielson, Edge, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Goldberg, and many more. All these times, he came up with the big W to keep the belt on his broad shoulder.
