Roman Reigns led The Bloodline to the first-ever WarGames Match at Survivor Series 2022 premium live event. The most dominant faction in today’s WWE faced off against The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens in the Men’s WarGames Match. After the dust was settled, The Bloodline stood tall. But the match didn’t end without controversy and a couple of injuries also raised concerns.
A physical confrontation took place between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens during the match and it eventually led to more verbal exchanges but it seems things have since been calmed down for them. But the important news coming out of the situation is that the top champion of the WWE might have suffered an injury and we’re unsure how it could affect WWE programming.
As per the previous reports, Roman Reigns was heated following the WarGames match. This was due to him getting hurt from an unplanned spot by Kevin Owens. The latter slapped the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the face and this ensued a brawl between the two of them inside the steel cage structure.
Roman Reigns was hurt due to a slap from Kevin Owens at Survivor Series
According to the reports from Fightful Select, Roman Reigns was very angry backstage because of that spot. Plus, he was dealing with a ruptured eardrum from that slap. Word going on is that there won’t be any heat on Owens, as that slap and the follow-up blows occurred due to the heat of the moment. This was also the reason why The Tribal Chief didn’t appear in the post-Survivor Series WarGames press conference.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer, while Roman Reigns was legit upset from that slap, he also carried a noticeable bruising under his left eye. It was further added that while the top champion was upset in the beginning, “20 minutes later it had all blown over so there is no lingering issue regarding it.” Hence, the two top superstars have already buried the hatchet and their ongoing program should also continue.
Going by the recent updates, WWE has Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens planned for the Undisputed Title for Royal Rumble 2023 premium live event. There have been some concerns about his ruptured knee for the latter one. He was partially sidelined due to a sprained MCL, which he sustained at a live event. However, The Prizefighter was quickly back on WWE TV and he also participated in the WarGames Match.
