Roman Reigns remains the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the WWE even after three years of originally winning the gold in the summer of 2020. In the latest, he won a Tribal Combat at Summerslam by defeating Jey Uso to retain the undisputed title. Jey was very close to overcoming The Bloodline leader with Spear followed by The Uso Splash but then Jimmy Uso betrayed him to alter the match outcome.
Roman Reigns has been the WWE Universal Champion for 1100+ days and counting which means that he has already broken so many records to cement himself as the greatest of all time or at least the greatest of the modern era. Meanwhile, a separate record has been accomplished by the reigning champion with the WWE Title.
Roman Reigns set a new record with WWE Title
On WWE’s website, the WWE Championship and Universal Championship are still listed as separate belts and those are currently active. While approaching 1150 days as the Universal Champion, it’s also been noted by the WWE that Roman Reigns has also crossed 500 Days as the WWE Champion. He won that belt by defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 on April 3, 2022, in a Title vs. Title matchup.

Roman Reigns crossed 1000 days as the reigning Universal Champion
A few days ago, Roman Reigns crossed 1,000 days as the universal champion and he was presented with a new championship. He then surpassed 1,042 days as champion which makes him the longest-reigning champion in WWE history since the innovation of WrestleMania in 1985.
This accolade was previously reserved by WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, whose first reign as the WWF Champion lasted for 1,474 days. However, only 1,041 days of that title reign were part of the WrestleMania era.
The current assumption is that WWE will eventually allow Roman Reigns to overtake Hulk Hogan’s reign for 1474 days which will only keep him behind Bruno Sammartino. In that case, Roman Reigns won’t be dropping the belt until next year’s September, at least.
As mentioned above, Reigns won the Universal Championship at Payback in August 2020 by defeating The Fiend in a triple-threat match that also involved Braun Strowman to begin his reign of terror on Smackdown. That title win also laid the foundation for one of the greatest factions in WWE history, The Bloodline.
