It’s been almost three years that Roman Reigns hasn’t dropped the WWE Universal Title since winning it at the 2020 Payback PPV soon after making a comeback from his hiatus. Fans have complained a lot about the top-most superstar hijacking the title alongside the WWE Championship since Wrestlemania 38. But that title reign isn’t ending, anytime soon.
Within a few days, Roman Reigns will finally complete 1000 days in his reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion which obviously brought controversy and speculation about the longevity of the title reign. Many believed that his most recent title defense against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 could mark the end of his reign but that was not the case.

WWE wants to further stretch Roman Reigns’ title reign
Andrew Zarian of the Wrestling Observer recently spoke on the matter while responding to Jim Valley’s tweet regarding Roman Reigns possibly surpassing Hulk Hogan’s 1,474-day title reign and thus solidifying his status on the top four list.
Valley suggested that WWE’s reintroduction of the new World Heavyweight Championship belt was a way to allow Roman Reigns to hold the title for a longer time span. In response to the notion, Zarian noted that he has been told by sources numerous times that WWE eventually wants to update its history books with longer title reigns,

As noted above, Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania Hollywood Night Two on April 2. Afterward, he expectedly went into a hiatus and continue with his part-time schedule. He’s set to miss Backlash PLE, this Saturday night. While nothing is confirmed, it’s likely that his next title defense will happen at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
