WWE had to deal with a lot of problems during WrestleMania 36 in the absence of Roman Reigns who was originally scheduled to feature in the main event. The creative team was forced to figure out this big change to their plans for the showcase of immortals when the franchise player decided not to work the event. There was a hope that he would be back by SummerSlam but it seems that’s not possible.
Apparently, WWE had thought about some big matches for the Roman Reigns. He was going to be inserted straight into the championship picture. However, as the coronavirus pandemic doesn’t intend to slow down, the belief is that the Samoan star won’t be out of his house leaving his newborn twins.
Roman Reigns: WWE Cancelled Summerslam Plans For The Big Dog
Thus, WWE will have to go with alternate plans, once again after WrestleMania 36 as the face of the company remains unavailable.
Ringside News has learned WWE’s plans for Roman Reigns was able to bring him back-in-time of the biggest party of the summer. The source was told that there were two options being discussed for the returnee.
He was either going to face Bray Wyatt or Braun Strowman meaning he would either face the champion for the title or else he could fight for the contender’s position for the title that he could have picked up at WrestleMania 36.
Braun Strowman was the one who stepped in to fulfill the vacant spot of Roman Reigns’ spot at WrestleMania. He defeated Goldberg to win his first world title in WWE. Roman hasn’t been back since then which is why the Monster Among Men carried on as the Universal Champion on SmackDown, all these times.
Strowman is currently involved in a three-match program with Bray Wyatt that should culminate at SummerSlam 2020.
As the absence of the Big Dog will not end anytime soon, Wyatt and Strowman will be involved in the top program of SmackDown for weeks to follow. Roman Reigns does want to come back to the WWE Universe, but it will take time. His name hasn’t been mentioned backstage in a while as the head honchos are aware of the long absence.
Except Vince McMahon wants to pull off a shocker, it’s certain that we won’t be seeing the four-time champion back in the scene.
