The team of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler has been projected to be a strong heel team on Smackdown. For the entire Road to Wrestlemania 39 season, the two were built to be a reckless force and they were also likely to be the next contenders for the women’s tag team gold if not it was for an injury.
The two former UFC Superstars were getting television time as a heel team on the road to the Biggest Event of the Year. However, Ronda Rousey’s sudden injury forced WWE to make several changes to its creative plan for Wrestlemania 39. The former champion eventually participated in a fatal-4-way tag team match at the Show of Shows but in a protected environment.
Ronda Rousey “Preferred And Pushed For The Tag Team” Run After WWE Wrestlemania 39 Creative Changes
Now that the injury is still troubling her, WWE is having problems bringing her back on TV. During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Ronda Rousey is still not medically cleared to compete inside the squared circle. This is the reason why WWE decided to crown Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez as the Women’s Tag Team Champions instead of keeping Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch as reigning champs,

Ronda Rousey Wasn’t Fully Medically Ready To Compete In WWE Wrestlemania 39 Match
Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler could have been champions
On the April 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez beat Trish Stratus (the original champion Lita’s replacement) and Becky Lynch for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles after that. Lita was injured before the match, forcing Trish Stratus to digest the loss for her team before she eventually turned heel on Becky Lynch.
If the original plans would have been intact then Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler’s team was supposed to take away the titles from Trish/Lita and Becky. This would have been also a dream scenario where the WWE Hall of Famer Trish would have shared the ring with two former MMA performers.
It should also be noted that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler had been victorious at the Wrestlemania Showcase fatal-4-way match also featuring the teams of Natalya-Shotzi, Chelsea Green-Sonya Deville and Liv Morgan-Raquel Rodriguez. So, logically, the winning team should be in the contender’s position whenever they show up, next on WWE TV.
