One of the much-anticipated returns around the 2021 Royal Rumble was expected to happen in the form of the former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. She was a huge betting favorite to end up being the winner of the match and then cement her spot at WrestleMania 37. But things obviously didn’t happen that way. It seems she may not work at the Show of Shows.
Dave Meltzer broke down Ronda Rousey’s current WWE status during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He was “kinda told” that the only female UFC Hall of Famer won’t be performing at WrestleMania 37 in Tampa Bay, Florida. While this is the insider scoop available around her, WWE is keeping things incredibly close to the vest when it comes to her.
Potential reason why Ronda Rousey is skipping Wrestlemania
With a minimum attendance by the fans this year in the host venue of Raymond James Stadium, Ronda Rousey may not be ready to be back, herself. The next two years edition where WrestleMania could match up to its grandeur seems to be fittings enough to make her return, instead. Rousey’s contract expiry around April is also an issue.
Becky Lynch Reportedly Set For Sooner WWE Return?
“I was kinda told that she’s not doing [The Royal Rumble] this year. If it was in Los Angeles I think she would have done it for almost the same reason, but it’s not now. You could do it, but it does make more sense for her to be in Dallas for next year’s WrestleMania or Los Angeles the year after because this year it’ll still be a scaled down event.”
Roman Reigns Takes Shot At WWE’s Attitude Era Programing
Ronda Rousey’s return obviously had something to do with the return of Becky Lynch, too as these two have some sort of unfinished business. But there’s no confirmed update is available on The MAN, too. She gave birth only a few weeks ago meaning that she wasn’t fully cleared to wrestle around the Rumble. The question remains whether she would be 100% ready around WrestleMania 37.
Ronda Rousey’s status is a bit more interesting, though as she’s constantly been training to get rid of those ring rusts but there’s no positive update on a WWE return. Making her the Royal Rumble winner was a good idea for WWE but then there could be some obvious backlash as people would say how she wasn’t around for so long and now has been handed the opportunity.
