Ronda Rousey was introduced into the WWE women’s division at the peak of the Women’s Evolution in 2018. She got to face some toughest opponents during her first stint to establish herself as the legit “baddest woman on the planet.” Her entry also produced the first-ever all-women pay-per-view event alongside an all-women Wrestlemania main event.
But the second stint of Ronda Rousey, starting in 2022 appeared to be a massive failure mainly due to the thinness in WWE’s women’s roster and that reason was pointed out by the woman herself in a recent interview. After becoming the new tag champion on Raw, the former MMA competitor discussed the current big problem in the female roster of WWE with The New York Post.
“I Would Like To Celebrate The Ending Of My Career,” WWE Veteran Reveals Her Wish
“Well, the lack of competition is really the problem,” Ronda Rousey sounded pretty clear on WWE’s lack of competition in the women’s division.
“I mean, we want to be the most active champions out there. I want to be able to defend this title every week and even twice a week on both ‘SmackDown’ and ‘Raw.’ But with how dismally shallow the women’s division is right now, there’s not enough women around here to keep us busy for a month. And so that’s the biggest challenge that we have is to get this company to actually care and invest into this tag division.”

Ronda Rousey unhappy about WWE releasing talents during COVID-19 pandemic
During the conversation, Ronda Rousey also pointed out that during her WWE hiatus between April 2019 and January 2022, WWE’s women’s division was “stripped clean.” She was referring to the mass budget cuts that went down during the COVID-19 pandemic and took out some of the relevant names from the roster. WWE’s team division has less than even 10 people and suffered the most from those cuts.
On the May 29 episode of Raw, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They defeated the teams of Bayley & IYO SKY, Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green, and the brand new pair of Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi in a Fatal-4-Way match.
Following Wrestlemania 39, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were going strong as the reigning champions. However, an unfortunate injury took Morgan out of commission which was the sole reason that a new championship match had to be planned on the post-Night of Champions episode of Raw. By making Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, the new tag champs, WWE will be trying to elevate their tag division but then again the lack of opponents could be a problem.
