As much as WWE would have loved to see the return of Ronda Rousey inside the squared circle, that has to wait. The Baddest Woman on the Planet recently announced her pregnancy and that would keep millions of her fans waiting to see her in action for months to follow. Family will be her first priority in the upcoming time which puts her pro-wrestling career in doubt by all means.
As we have seen, the former UFC Bantamweight Champion brought the “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey moniker with herself during her tenure in the WWE. This was a gimmick introduced by WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper who was the favorite wrestler of a young Ronda. She was lucky enough to get the gimmick approved by the legend himself.

People Magazine reported that after catching a sneak peek at the upcoming Biography special for ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, Ronda Rousey revealed her own story about him. She received the blessing from Piper to carry on the Rowdy name, but at the same time, he wanted to make sure that she does justice with it. She over-delivered in that expectation, certainly.

“When I first started doing MMA I was trying to think of a fight name and of course the first thing that everybody thought of was like ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey. And it’s like I know, but it’s like, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper already has that and I don’t want to steal it,” Ronda Rousey stated.
“Until I happened to see the ‘Rowdy’ one and got his blessing and he was very sweet about it. He was like, ‘Sure kid, no problem. Better do the name proud’ or something like that.”
Piper couldn’t see Ronda Rousey performing in WWE
Unfortunately, Roddy Piper passed away on July 31, 2015, and he was never able to Ronda Rousey carrying his legacy in a WWE ring, exactly the way he wanted. We bet he must have watched from above and praised her work ethic in the WWE that continued until WrestleMania 35. After that, she went ahead to start a family with her husband Travis Browne.
After waiting for a couple of years, Ronda Rousey revealed on her YouTube channel that she is expecting a baby with her husband. They will welcome their bundle of joy in September of this year. Ronda’s original WWE contract expired in early April but the rumor is WWE has extended it to some extent. Hence, she’s expected to make a return in the future.
