Apart from loading up the Raw 30th-anniversary episode card, WWE also made announcements around Royal Rumble 2023, last night. The third singles match of the night was confirmed for the upcoming pay-per-view in the form of the Raw Women’s Championship Match.
WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will defend her title at the upcoming Royal Rumble 2023 Premium Live Event against Alexa Bliss to continue their feud. The latest upcoming matchup between the two was announced as the two engaged in a brawl on Raw in the presence of Uncle Howdy.
WWE Royal Rumble 2023: Huge Name Confirmed To Enter Men’s Rumble Match
Belair returned to WWE Raw on the January 16 episode to call out Bliss as she was blindsided by a brutal attack by her, two weeks ago. Bliss originally wanted to enter the Women’s Royal Rumble 2023 match in order to win it and earn herself a title shot at WrestleMania 39. But The EST of WWE wasn’t willing to wait until April and rather offered her the opportunity to face her in a singles match at the PLE, instead.
Blis and Belair brawled on this week’s Raw
After Bliss accepted the challenge at Royal Rumble 2023 and the two women started brawling with one another outside the ring and in the crowd. Belair had the upper hand throughout the brawl and looked to deliver the KOD on Bliss but Uncle Howdy appeared in the entrance tunnel. Bliss took advantage of the distraction and planted Belair with a DDT onto the concrete floor.
Belair has held the WWE Raw Women’s Championship for 289 days since winning the belt from Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38. She has since successfully retained it against the likes of Asuka, Carmella, Sonya Deville, and Bayley before moving on to her next challenger, Alexa Bliss to set up the title match at Royal Rumble 2023. The two previously battled for the title, two weeks ago on Raw but Bliss led to a DQ finish to the match under Bray Wyatt’s influence.
