Royal Rumble 2023 is set to emanate on January 28 from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. This particular show is one of the most exciting Premium Live Events on WWE’s yearly schedule. Following the tradition of the last few years, the show will be headlined by two Rumble matches, one for the male and one for the female superstars of the WWE roster.
That being said, it is certain that the WWE Universe is getting all amped up for the Royal Rumble 2023 as this is going to be one of the most exciting events that WWE has to offer. It’s hard to predict who would show up in a surprising capacity and the 2023 edition will be no exception. It appears that a veteran name from WWE’s Ruthless Aggression Era may also be back on board.
WWE Royal Rumble 2023: Major Changes Expected In Rumble Matches
In the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, then-IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James entered the match in a rare capacity as she was not on the WWE roster and let alone a deal with the company. According to Xero News, Mickie is also scheduled to be in the Women’s Royal Rumble 2023 match, as well.

Mickie James could enter Royal Rumble 2023 as a WWE Superstar
The big difference from last time would be that the six-time women’s champion may enter the match as a WWE Superstar as she could sign with the WWE heading into the WWE premium live event. On January 13, 2023, at the IMPACT Wrestling Hard to Kill pay-per-view, she will challenge Jordynne Grace for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship in a “Career vs. Title” match.
Since Mickie has been teasing her retirement from IMPACT for some time, it’s very much possible that she would lose this match and leave IMPACT Wrestling. Thereafter, she would be having no bar in making appearances at Royal Rumble 2023 as a WWE Superstar.
A male Impact wrestler could appear at Royal Rumble
Another Impact Superstar is being rumored to return at Royal Rumble 2023 and that name is former WWE superstar Matt Cardona fka Zack Ryder. He has teased making an appearance at the Men’s Rumble Match by making a post on Twitter and sharing a video of one of his entrances from a previous Rumble match where he receives pretty big pop. Even his fiancée Chelsea Green, also a former Impact talent is reportedly WWE-bound.
