It seems that the show is still weeks away in the calendar but eventually, it will arrive before we know it. The Rock’s name is still being discussed for this particular show as he is expected to feature at the Show of Shows, as well.
There are major speculations about The Rock being a part of Royal Rumble 2023 but nothing is confirmed regarding his participation at the big event. Ringside News has reported in the past that WWE has not booked The Great One for this show. However, that isn’t stopping the fans from speculating about a grand return for the future Hall of Famer.

In recent times, RSN reached out to confirm The Rock’s status around the first premium live event of 2023. A tenured member of the WWE creative team told them that “there is no status update on The Rock.” At this point, “discussions are still going on,” but “nothing is settled.”
That being said, currently, there are no plans for the Hollywood Superstar to appear at Royal Rumble 2023. But this doesn’t mean he won’t return to TV, next year. After all, the same source informed that the Brahma Bull is almost a lock for Wrestlemania 39 in Hollywood.

The Rock’s Royal Rumble 2023 win to set up Wrestlemania match?
As reported multiple times in the past, WWE wanted to do The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 39 also dubbed WrestleMania Hollywood. If his movie schedule doesn’t provide hindrance then this dream match should definitely be happening and the builds for this bout should begin from Royal Rumble 2023 onward.
The current creative direction for Roman Reigns for Royal Rumble 2023 is that he will defend his Universal Title against Kevin Owens in that Texas event. The ongoing storyline featuring Sami Zayn also suggests that a possible matchup against Reigns should be happening, possibly at Elimination Chamber in February.
Royal Rumble 2023 takes place Saturday, January 28 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. To date, only the Raw Women’s Title Match has been confirmed for that night.
