Going by the recent reports, Royal Rumble 2023 should witness the much-anticipated return of The Rock to WWE TV. Time and time again, WWE wanted to do The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in the main event of Wrestlemania and it appears that the match is finally happening on Night Two of WrestleMania 39, also dubbed WrestleMania Hollywood.
Fueling up the rumors, The Great One himself teased this potential WrestleMania bout against The Head of the Table during an appearance on The Rundown. After being asked who the original Head of the Table in the Samoan Dynasty is, he stated the following,
“Who is Head Of The Table? Without saying any names, you’re looking into his eyes right now.”

The current speculation is that Roman Reigns will go into WrestleMania 39 as still the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. It appears that WWE is indeed considering the same idea to boost its TV viewership.

WWE officials pitching Royal Rumble 2023 ideas for The Rock
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE Officials have discussed The Rock’s appearance at Royal Rumble 2023 and he may win the men’s matchup to solidify his main event spot at Wrestlemania 39,
“The idea we heard regarding a discussion and nothing more, like I said, it’s been talked about as a pie-in-the-sky is a surprise No. 30 entrant and winning.
It could be something only a few people know but as best we can tell there is nothing official to it right now past a rumor.”
Nothing regarding The Rock’s return is confirmed
Ringside News further added that they were told by a tenured member of the creative team that “there are ideas for Rock in Rumble, ideas for Rock not in Rumble, ideas for Rock to show up elsewhere besides the Rumble.” Right now, “nothing is etched in stone until a deal is reached.”
RSN added that at this point any confirmation of The Rock’s Royal Rumble 2023 appearance should be considered “fake news.” However, it can’t be ruled out, completely. It will be interesting to see how WWE handles the situation on their television, moving forward. The Great One certainly has an incredibly busy schedule but he’s expected to generate a time to make an appearance in the WWE.
