In the main event of SummerSlam 2022 Premium Live Event Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing Match to retain his title and thereby crossed the auspicious 700th-day landmark of the ongoing run. While the champion retained, the challenger mostly garnered attention by bringing out a tractor to the ring.
Brock Lesnar did the unthinkable by lifting an entire ring with the help of the tractor. Then it took Paul Heyman and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos to keep him down for the referee’s ten counts and thereby help Reigns to emerge victorious. At least, that’s how WWE ended the main show of SummerSlam for the fans. But more happening was there once the show went off the air.
Roman Reigns Set Two Major Records At WWE Summerslam 2022 PLE
As seen in shared footage on social media, Brock Lesnar’s gesture with the cowboy hat after Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam led to speculation among the fans that he could be going away from professional wrestling.
He made a thank you gesture while standing on top of the elevated ring caused by a tractor. It led the fans to wonder whether he’d be taking time off from the company or rather retiring altogether from WWE in-ring competition.
Brock Lesnar is being advertised for the 2023 WWE Day 1 PLE
IWC also feels that Vince McMahon’s retirement may force Brock Lesnar to move into the sunset of his career since he used to be a father figure to him. However, rumors were put to rest via the latest advertisements published by an outlet. As seen in a released tweet by Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, the marquee attraction is already being advertised for the WWE Day 1 premium live event set for January 1, 2023.
The State Farm Arena hosted WWE’s first premium live event in 2022 and they will again host the event to kick things off in 2023. We will have to wait and see how Brock Lesnar will be booked in that event but at least, we know that he will appear on that night. The card is always subjected to change given the circumstances.
The inaugural WWE Day 1 was a highly unpredictable night with Brock Lesnar being the top attraction of the card. Hours leading up to the event the-the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was reportedly diagnosed with COVID-19 and was pulled from his scheduled title defense against The Beast Incarnate.
WWE then inserted Brock Lesnar into the previously scheduled fatal-4-way WWE Title match featuring then-champion Big E, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens, making it a fatal-5-way. Lesnar would overcome the other four to become the WWE Champion for the fifth time in his career.
