Mainly due to her career in the WWE, Saraya has become a trailblazer in the women’s league of professional wrestling. As Paige, she did have a tremendous career in the previously Vince McMahon-owned brand to set the bar high for her successors. Even after her retirement, the company kept her engaged in numerous roles before deciding not to renew her contract.
After Triple H got in charge of the creative team of the WWE, he desperately tried to keep Saraya under the WWE banner but she ultimately came to AEW to enjoy a variety of opponents as an in-ring competitor. Since debuting on AEW Dynamite, the UK native has become a regular feature and she has repeatedly admitted having no malicious feelings about WWE after debuting in AEW.
Saraya Hit Back Fan For Making False Allegations At Her With WWE
However, Saraya did vent out frustrations about her workplace in her first-ever promo session in the AEW. Revisiting that promo from a September 2022 episode of Dynamite during an appearance on Busted Open Radio, she admitted that she was nervous and terrified at that point. This was due to being away from pro wrestling for almost five years and debuting in a new company in front of a new set of audiences.
“This Is The First Time I’ve Really Cussed On TV,” Saraya Regrets Over Rant On AEW TV
Saraya claimed to have a non-listening boss in the WWE
Proceeding in the conversation, Saraya also expressed her regret over uttering one particular line in her promo which said, “Finally, a boss that listens to me.” She acknowledged that it was a below-the-belt comment that shouldn’t be passed, anyway. The veteran has always spoken highly of WWE and she believes that line brought her unnecessary negative reactions.
“The one thing I do wish I didn’t say, I got asked to say a certain sentence, the sentence where I was like, ‘Finally, a boss that listens to me’ I wish I didn’t take that low hanging fruit. I’ve always spoke highly of WWE because they helped me a lot. I love AEW,” Saraya continued.
“There is no reason to take that low-hanging fruit and I feel that caused a lot of tribalism and negative reaction. There are some things you wish you didn’t say, and that’s one of them. I feel it would have gone smoother if I wouldn’t said that. I understand why people were made, ‘but I’m playing a character. Be quiet.’”
Saraya parted ways with the WWE in the summer of 2022 before debuting in the AEW in late September during the Grand Slam episode from the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Before her exit, she filmed content for “Biography: WWE Legends” as part of the WWE’s agreement with A&E which aired in March of 2023. This certainly proves that the two parties are not on bad terms.
