Uncertainties continue to run through Sasha Banks’ professional wrestling career since this year’s May. Despite all the rumors of seeing her back on WWE TV, there hasn’t been any positive update available regarding her comeback to the company. Rather, she is likely to jump ship to with AEW or NJPW, per the recent reports.
It was on May 16 that the then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks alongside Naomi walked out on WWE in the middle of that night’s episode of Raw. Both of them were said to be frustrated with Vince McMahon’s booking of the women’s tag team division. The two champions were reportedly booked to lose in singles contests against Raw/Smackdown Women’s Title.
Sasha Banks Possibly Returning To Action In 2023 But Not In WWE
Sasha Banks recently teased a potential signing with AEW and that possibly is coming up with some great news for the female locker room. Sean Sapp reported from behind Fightful’s paywall that several female talents within the Tony Khan-owned promotion are excited about the possibility of the multi-time women’s champion signing with AEW.
Following the inclusion of Saraya to the AEW Women’s roster, many believe that the real-life Mercedes Varnado could cause a major rating boost to AEW TV since she possesses huge star power. Here’s more from the source,
“Fightful asked about Mercedes’ status with WWE after the heavy promotion of her appearing on USA Network’s Barmageddon. Nobody that we inquired with at WWE had heard any change or update on her status or were at least willing to say as much.
However, several AEW talent were excited about the possibility of her coming in. One source quickly agreed they thought that having Sasha Banks on their show weekly is another “anchor” for their women’s division, something that could kick start interest in it, and feel would significantly help viewership.”
Sasha Banks Charging $30K Per Appearance Since Her WWE Departure
Sasha Banks is either AEW or NJPW-bound?
Reports have already claimed that Sasha Banks is expected to attend New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view event scheduled to be held on January 4, 2023, at the Tokyo Dome. We will wait and see whether the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion will appear, live during the broadcast of NJPW’s biggest show of the year.
Earlier this year, Fightful also reported that Sasha Banks wasn’t taking any kind of wrestling bookings until January 1, 2023. That being said, NJPW’s Wrestling Kindom 17 fits the timeline to have her onboard. It should also be noted that Saraya will be teaming with a mystery partner on the January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite in Los Angeles and fans can’t contain thinking that The Legit Boss could be that mystery name.
