Ever since Sasha Banks walked out of the WWE during an episode of Monday Night RAW in May 2022, there has been speculation about her professional wrestling career. She had a major reported fallout with WWE officials before that happened. However, with Triple H gaining control in the WWE, there have been talks of her returning to the company under the new regime.

Ultimately, it was reported that Sasha Banks was heading to Japan to attend Wrestle Kingdom 17 which appeared to be a major shocker for the fans who hoped that she would return to the WWE. However, NJPW was able to sign her to a deal through which she will be competing on limited dates for the company. That should begin with the scheduled event for tonight.

Before appearing on the show, Sasha Banks went on a thanking spree on Twitter. She first thanked WWE following William Regal, Triple H, and even Vince McMahon. The tweets were all sent out in a gap of just a few minutes,

“Thank you WWE

Thank you William Regal

Thank you Triple H

Thank you WWE Universe

Thank you #Krew I love you so much

Thank you Vince McMahon

Thank you #SashaBanks”

The final thanks mentioning Sasha Banks was a hint that the on-screen WWE character is going into a hiatus from now on as she intends to wrestle for NJPW under her real name Mercedes Varnado.

The former Women’s Champion officially became a Free Agent on January 1, 2023. Currently, she’s on a per-appearance deal with NJPW. According to the Wrestling Observer, she is now the highest-paid wrestler in the company which should hand her more money than she had earned in her time with the WWE. Triple H and Co. couldn’t reach a deal with her because she was asking for a lot of money.

Now, PWInsider has also reported that current RAW Superstar Bayley is going to Japan to support Sasha Banks for her NJPW debut and so could her former tag team partner Naomi. Since Bayley is under active contract with the WWE, it’s likely that she shouldn’t be shown on camera,

“In asking around, we could not confirm that WWE sent Bayley to the show, but it’s entirely possible (and probably likely) she headed to Japan herself to be there for Sasha given their long standing friendship.”
