Kevin Owens has been in a feud with Shane McMahon for months now. He even had his hands on Vince McMahon at one point resulting in a Hell in a Cell match against the Smackdown commissioner. The rivalry is not likely to over with the latest happenings on the show where we have learned about yet another matchup at the Clash of Champions PPV.
This week’s Smackdown episode started with a promo segment by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn where they complained about the ongoing vendetta of the younger McMahon towards them. The duo continued their heel antics inside the ring until Randy Orton showed up and delivered an RKO to Owens.
In the meantime, Shane McMahon appeared on the ramp to make a blockbuster announcement. Since Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were not part of the Survivor Series PPV, we have heard about a lot of complaints from them. So, the commissioner put them in a match against Randy Orton and a partner for him of his own choice.

Later, the night a big stipulation was put into the contest, again. Following the end of the main event match between Randy Orton vs Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura came out to save Orton from an ambush between the two brethren. It grew anger of Shane McMahon on them, as he made another announcement.
Not only will #SDLive Commissioner @shanemcmahon be special guest referee for @FightOwensFight & @SamiZayn‘s #WWEClash match… if they lose, they’ll be fired from ALL of @WWE! pic.twitter.com/H3e9XWIiaj

He appointed himself as the special guest referee of the announced tag team match. Plus, if Owens and Zayn would lose the match against the two prime babyfaces of Smackdown, then their career will be over not only on the blue brand but on the entire WWE. Later, WWE.com confirmed the same news where Shinsuke Nakamura was found to be Orton’s partner at Clash of Champions,
“Can Owens & Zayn find a way to slip out of WWE Clash of Champions the victors? Or, will Orton & Nakamura prove to be too much for the dastardly duo to handle? Plus, with Shane McMahon serving as the guest referee and holding a clear bias against Owens & Zayn, will SmackDown LIVE’s Commissioner call the match down the middle?
See who prevails in this critical tag team battle, as Owens & Zayn will have their WWE careers hanging in the balance on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.”
