Toni Storm has long been looking for success in top wrestling promotions after working in the indie scenes for years. She hoped to find a way to the top by joining WWE through the Mae Young Classic Tournament. Eventually, she also won the 2018 edition and then move to NXT to establish her legacy. But weak bookings and frequent hiatuses appeared to be a huge barrier to her career’s success.

Down the road, Toni Storm was also brought to the Smackdown roster only to be sitting at the catering. The frustrated talent took the route to leave the WWE for good and thereby arrive at AEW during the March 30 episode of Dynamite. The company took the least time to book her as one of the top stars in the women’s division who can also claim herself to be a champion.

Over the years, AEW President Tony Khan has always been vocal about signing fresh faces to the roster. If Toni Storm was a big acquisition for the company to the fray, another big addition is Saraya. Formerly known as Paige, she debuted for the company at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, and she’s also medically cleared to wrestle under the Tony Khan-ruled banner.

Saraya praised by one-time Interim AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm

Down the road, the belief is that Saraya might go on to rule the AEW Women’s Division. Interim Women’s World Champion Toni Storm has already been involved in several segments with Saraya, and she told during an interview with Bleacher Report that working with the popular wrestler has been a “pretty cool” experience.

Here’s more from what Toni Storm had stated about her current tag team partner,

“{Working with Saraya] Is pretty cool as someone who’s looked up to her, kind of tried to follow in her footsteps. But it’s really cool for me to be able to get the best seat in the house to see her come back to wrestling and all the crowd reactions and stuff.”

“I think she brings a whole different element to AEW. I think she’s exciting. And it’s going to bring in more and more viewers. I love having her around. I think she’s gonna really help us out.” (quotes courtesy Bleacher Report)

Toni Storm came up short in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. But the New Zealand native regrouped things, sooner than later as she defeated Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Jamie Hayter in a Fatal-4-Way match to become the interim women’s champion in the absence of the original champion Thunder Rosa.
