After being an authority figure on WWE TV for some time, Sonya Deville is back as an in-ring performer for the past several months. She had also tried to enter the title picture, notably against Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair but all her efforts had gone in vain.
Deville was carrying a gun with herself
The tough times for the former Absolution member continue even in real life as she has to go into police custody. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, WWE SmackDown Superstar Sonya Deville was arrested for keeping a firearm in her car. She had a legal permit for it in Florida but New Jersey police didn’t accept it which led to the arrest,
“Sonya Deville was arrested in New Jersey recently for having a firearm in her vehicle. She has a permit in Florida, but it wasn’t valid in NJ. She’s in the process of getting it thrown out, and we’re told she started carrying after the home invasion.”

Interestingly enough, this is not an incident that happened within a few days but rather a few weeks. TMZ noted that the incident actually occurred on February 19, 2023. The report further added that Sonya Deville is in the process of getting the charge thrown out against her. Apparently, she started packing a gun with her after that terrible home invasion in 2020.

Sonya Deville has own reasons for keeping a gun to herself
For those who aren’t aware of the incident, a WWE fan began stalking Sonya Deville a few years ago. At that point, she was staying with Mandy Rose at her place when this fan tried to break into her house. Initial reports suggested that the fan had the intention of abducting the WWE Superstar.
But later, he admitted that he wanted to kill Mandy just for being close to Sonya Deville. From this perspective, it’s fair to say that she perhaps required an arm for her to protect herself if and when the situation requires it. But then again, Gun laws in America are very tricky, and people have to pay extra attention to each state’s specific guidelines.
WWE not bothered about Deville’s arrest
Currently, the hope is that Sonya Deville will take care of this situation on her own and won’t miss any time from the road in the WWE. The good thing is that it was added that, “WWE sources indicated there was no heat on Sonya Deville, with the understanding of why she would want to protect herself following the stalker and home invasion situation.”
