For almost a year now, another match featuring the legendary WWE Superstar is said to be in the pipeline. After we were deprived of the same at Wrestlemania 39, it appears that he’s finally ready to be back on WWE programming.
Originally, Stone Cold Steve Austin passed an appearance and possibly a match at WrestleMania 39, earlier this year. In recent interviews, he also confirmed that a couple of pitches were also made pitches for him to feature in a match against a top superstar (possibly against Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns). However, he wasn’t interested in working with them.

In an update, insider scoop breaker, BWE tweeted out behind its private Twitter account that WWE is making early plans for Stone Cold Steve Austin to give a big rub to a current WWE Superstar. As mentioned below by the source, details are not clear but he should be back to feature in a program with a not-so-established superstar,
“Certain plans being discussed. Cant give away more info atm. But a star gets a big SCSA rub soon.”
In a follow-up, Ringside News reached out to confirm the update around a Stone Cold Steve Austin return, and they were told, “it’s always discussed, especially since his show is a WWE project.” A tenured member of the WWE creative team confirmed to them that The Attitude Era veteran is “always alive here” when it comes to pitches.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. LA Knight feud coming on Smackdown?
In the current scenario, LA Knight seems the most eligible superstar from WWE Smackdown to get involved in a program with Stone Cold Steve Austin as he’s often being dubbed as the 2.0 version of the latter. Previous rumors did suggest that Austin was also planning to do something with LA Knight at WrestleMania 39 but things didn’t materialize due to Austin’s movie schedule.
Down the road, LA Knight ended up being one of the top future superstars in professional wrestling, and currently, he’s among the top 5 list of highest merch sellers in WWE. Getting a rub from Stone Cold Steve Austin is the best that he can expect in his career and hopefully, it will happen soon.
