Within three weeks, Summerslam 2023 will be here to offer professional wrestling fans the biggest WWE actions of the summer. Unlike the past few years, any official match for the event is yet to be announced since WWE has already sold out the host stadium.
The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been challenged to feature in his next title match defense against Jey Uso which is expected to feature in the main event of Summerslam 2023. The same aspect was echoed in the report of Wrestling Observer Newsletter which has recently offered some information regarding WWE’s plans for the biggest event of the summer.
Summerslam 2023: Update on WWE World Title Match
According to the reliable source, the planned World Heavyweight Championship match will go down at the PLE between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. Balor’s recent pinfall wins over current tag champion Sami Zayn and NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes on WWE television will set him up for yet another championship match at Summerslam 2023.
After facing a defeat at WWE Money in the Bank, Balor is still determined to compete in a rematch that should be in store for him. Additionally, his Judgment Day cohort Damian Priest, the current holder of the Money in the Bank contract will also be involved in the situation.
WON also informed that Jey Uso challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will indeed be the main event of Summerslam 2023. This match was originally supposed to be announced on WWE SmackDown in Raleigh but the announcement was eventually pushed back to next week,
“Right now the main event is Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso for the Universal title, which was strongly teased this past week and could be announced as soon as 7/14.”
