ToggleSummerslam 2023 is going to be a celebration for pro-wrestling fans through several big matches featuring top superstars of the WWE. There have been speculations about ten matches to be capacitated for the stadium show but Triple H might have just cut down two from the projected card to keep the match number a minimum of eight.
One of the matches to have been nixed from Summerslam 2023 is a title defense for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Previously, a matchup against reunited DIY was rumored but the ongoing storylines have suggested no such matchups for the champs. A likely rematch is still being teased against Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio but that could be held back for a future date.
Summerslam 2023: Current Plans For Main Event Of WWE PLE
Top match removed from Summerslam card?
An update from Ringside News also excludes Logan Paul vs. Ricochet from the lineup despite builds ongoing around it. The latter has already laid down a challenge toward Logan for Summerslam 2023 and the celebrity YouTuber is yet to accept it. It’s yet to be clarified whether WWE is indeed interested to insert the social media megastar into the card or they’ll eventually save him for a later date.
Although Roman Reigns is yet to be officially announced, it is widely expected that the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion will face Jey Uso at Summerslam 2023 in the main event bout. Jey’s pinfall win over Roman at Money in the Bank suggested a furious showdown between the two Samoan family members.
A new addition to the Summerslam 2023 card will be Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzalez for the Women’s World Championship. Ripley attacked Rodriguez backstage on Raw, leading to the title match loss for Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Now, this should escalate into a full-fledged feud over the women’s world title. From Smackdown, a Triple Threat is being set up featuring the champion Asuka and the challengers Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair.
