The current WWE creative team doesn’t like to unnecessarily load up a WWE PLE match card and Summerslam 2023 won’t be any exception. With plenty of matches around to be booked around the PLE, they’ve officially shredded one of those earlier announced matches for the show as announced on the latest episode of Raw.
The high-profile match featuring Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus announced for SummerSlam 2023 has now been postponed. Becky Lynch headed to Raw looking to have the rematch against Trish Stratus right on the show that took place in Houston, Texas. Stratus did hesitate to go into the match but then it was WWE Official Adam Pearce who ordered the match to go down, right then and there.
Summerslam 2023: Changes Made To Ronda Rousey’s Match At WWE PLE
As soon as the match bell rang, Zoey Stark interfered, resulting in a disqualification win in favor of Becky Lynch. Stratus and Stark also delivered some shots at Becky before making the exit from the ring. Backstage, they were met with Pearce who informed Stratus that the just bygone match doesn’t count and that the two will again meet in the third match of their feud on the August 14 episode of Raw that takes place at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Becky Lynch could be nursing injury heading into Summerslam 2023
With that, the much-anticipated match between the two stars at Summerslam 2023 has been canceled and their next bout will be offered on free TV instead of a PLE. Pearce also ordered that Stark will be banned from ringside so that she couldn’t influence the matchup, unlike the earlier two occasions.
The exact reason behind WWE officials delaying the match is not clear, but there have been reports that Becky Lynch has been dealing with an injury over the past few weeks. Fightful Select noted in their report that the decision to push back the match from Summerslam 2023 was made over the weekend.
