The latest addition to the Summerslam 2023 event has been a Battle Royal which could be one of the reasons why the mega match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus had to be scrapped from the show. The melee was first announced on this past edition of Smackdown while the field was filled with more superstars following the latest episode of Raw.
During the July 31 episode of WWE Raw, it was announced that the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Tommaso Ciampa, Chad Gable, and Otis will join Smackdown superstars LA Knight and Sheamus in the Battle Royal waiting for Summerslam 2023.

Names from Raw declared for Summerslam Battle Royal
Nakamura and Ciampa announced their entries into the match in a backstage segment, which also set up an impromptu match between the two of them. During the segment, the recently returned Ciampa made it clear that he needed to beat Nakamura to pick up some momentum before heading into the battle royal set for Summerslam 2023.
In return, Nakamura, who has been displaying heel antics, mocked Ciampa for thinking that he had a shot to win the battle royal in the first place. Eventually, The King of Strong Styles won the match on Raw by grabbing Ciampa’s tights and going one step closer to winning the first-ever matchup.
Gable and Otis of Alpha Academy also announced their entry into the matchup after Gable had an impressive outing on Raw by surviving a Beat the Clock challenge against Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER. Gable even informed GUNTHER that he’d be waiting for the champion on the other side of SummerSlam 2023.
WWE has not declared the list of participants for the SummerSlam 2023 Battle Royal, and we can assume that several underutilized talents will be inserted into the bout to fill up the fray. Some top names like Matt Riddle, AJ Styles, The Street Profits, and Bobby Lashley, are not on the match card of the PLE and they could be announced for the contest.
