WWE presented the biggest SummerSlam event in terms of views and attendance and Ronda Rousey was part of the festivity. Despite WWE Universe least caring about her match and using it as a bathroom break, she had a slugfest against her former bestie. However, another set of top names like Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, or even the WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley couldn’t make it to the card.

While many of the fans were unhappy over such a booking, WWE was essentially forced to book Ronda Rousey in a match at this latest bygone premium live event since she was leaving the company for good. It may not be permanent in the long term but we won’t be seeing her for the due course if current reports are to go by.

Ronda Rousey suffered a rare submission loss at Summerslam

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler’s match from Summerslam and it was noted that the match might have been the final contest for the former in the WWE. It was also noted that there was once a rule that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion couldn’t lose via submission in a WWE match, but Rousey herself ended that rule by losing the match the exact same way to Shayna.

Besides, the source noted how the current WWE run for Ronda Rousey which began at Royal Rumble 2022 is certainly over,

“It may be the end, period. So the whole deal was that Ronda, you know this looked to be, ‘it’s my last match and Shayna is the one who got me into this so if I have to go out then I’m losing by submission, because nobody was allowed to beat Ronda by submission, that was the key. So, she did it, with her best friend, and I mean, in theory it’s great for Shayna if they follow up on it, so we’ll see.”

Summerslam 2023 had eight matches on the card with Ronda Rousey’s match probably being the most underrated one as the fans didn’t pay attention to it, at all. But without a doubt, this match meant a lot to the Baddest Woman on the Planet as she was out to put over her former Four-Horsewoman buddy from UFC before leaving the WWE for good.
