Every time a big WWE event inches closer, the rumors around The Rock’s return start swirling around the internet, and Summerslam 2023 is no exception. For weeks now, the speculations regarding a mega return for the former WWE franchise player are roaming around the internet given the altercations that he shared with Grayson Waller in recent times.
There’s no confirmed update on whether WWE has any plans in store for Summerslam 2023 between these two but even if they have any, they opt to remain tight-lipped about the situation. The Wrestling Observer reported through their various contacts within the company about the possibility of The Rock possibly showing up, live at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on August 5th for the premium live event and got to know about the skeptical situation.

“I asked if there’s gonna be somebody else, and they said ‘I don’t know, maybe’. So, who knows? I mean, he could do it. Don’t know if Dwayne Johnson will come back, but if he’s going to do it for something, it’s gonna be for 50,000 fans in Detroit, which is this show.
I don’t know what he’s doing again, I know there’s a (Hollywood) strike on and everything, but he’s always doing something,” Dave Meltzer noted in his report about SummerSlam 2023.

An unnamed member of the WWE creative team also said the following about The Rock’s possible Summerslam 2023 appearance to Ringside News,
“If it’s true – which I doubt – it has not been shared with the writing staff.”
The Rock could show up in WWE for a big payday
The popular belief is that there’s a strike ongoing in Hollywood that came right after The Rock’s huge financial loss in the XFL. These two bitter experiences could eventually open the door for The Great One to make his return to the WWE in return for a big payday but WWE creative hasn’t shared anything regarding the happenings at Summerslam 2023.
Ford Field is a huge stadium that already hosted WrestleMania 23 on April 1st, 2007, with 80,000+ people. WWE usually tries to present some of the bigger names from the past on these occasions and The Rock appearing to deliver a Rock Bottom or two to electrify the audience would present us with a moment to remember forever.
