Summerslam 2023 will mark WWE’s return to USA soil from the international scene. For the first time since WrestleMania 39, WWE will be back in their home territory and the creative team of the company already has a lot of things in motion right now as the PLE approaches closer. Being the biggest event of the year, an epic show is being planned by the WWE in August.
One of the major attractions of SummerSlam 2023 will rumoredly feature an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are still going strong with these two belts since winning those at WrestleMania 39 and they have already gone through several title defenses, thus far. Perhaps, the biggest challenge for them is waiting for them when the biggest party of the summer finally arrives.

Owens and Zayn certainly don’t have any shortage of challengers for their titles on the active roster. However, a set of new challengers seems to be emerging for them which could eventually produce a huge match at SummerSlam 2023.
SummerSlam 2023 to have a multi-team championship match on the card
Insider source BWE was asked by a fan if WWE is indeed planning Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Team DIY – Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa at the August PLE. Since Ciampa is back and Gargano has recuperated from the injury, the two are getting back together, soon to function as a team.
BWE replied to the question that alongside DIY they “Might add 2 more teams. Still all early discussions.” If that’s the case then Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn might be having a multi-team match with their titles on the line Summerslam 2023.
Possible update on Summerslam 2023 Match Card
Summerslam 2023 is scheduled from Detroit, Michigan’s Ford Field on August 5th. The official poster of the show includes top superstars like Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Rey Mysterio, and Cody Rhodes but none of them has officially been booked to compete on the card.
Being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns is expected to feature in the main event of Summerslam 2023. Going by the current storyline, he’s expected to face Jimmy Uso. Xero News reports that a few matches are currently planned for the event as given below:
– Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III
– Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch
– Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa)
