The 36th edition of the annual WWE premium live event, Summerslam 2023 was produced this weekend to offer the pro-wrestling fans a one-of-a-kind experience. While many of the fans weren’t happy with how multiple women’s division matches were left out of the card, WWE certainly pulled out all the stops to make them entertained.
While doing so, the 2023 SummerSlam edition became the most-watched and highest-grossing in the history of this WWE premium live event. Taking place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, it recorded the largest company gate for any non-WrestleMania event, with $8.5 million generated in the process.
It was also revealed that Summerslam 2023 was the most-watched in company history for this particular WWE premium live event. The show also broke into the top three of most-watched WWE events on Peacock.

Summerslam 2023 generated huge merch selling for the WWE
Plus, Summerslam also generated the most sponsorship revenue for a non-WrestleMania show. Slim Jim, C4, and Rocket Mortgage were the sponsors to generate $7 million for the company, stat that’s up by 23 percent from 2022.
Merchandise sales were up by 60 percent in comparison to the record set two years ago. SummerSlam 2023 has now become the best-performing WWE premium live event for merch sales outside of WrestleMania. The PLE was also the most-viewed SummerSlam of all time on social media with over 230 million views and four million hours of content watched on different platforms.
