WWE will be presenting a Super SmackDown episode from Madison Square Garden in New York City, this weekend. Despite being a blue brand special event, several WWE RAW Superstars are being advertised for Friday’s show. This falls in line with earlier reports which claimed that the taping would feature Superstars from both brands.
While superstars from both Monday and Friday Nights will be appearing on the show, there’s no word on if the red brand wrestlers will be appearing on this week’s Super SmackDown on FOX broadcast. At this point, the MSG and WWE’s official websites have the following RAW Superstars advertised for the show,
* WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, RAW Tag Team Champions Randy Orton and Riddle, The New Day – Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, Drew McIntyre.
Extreme Rules 2021: WWE And United States Title Match Confirmed
Friday’s Super SmackDown event at MSG will also be John Cena’s final WWE appearance for the time being. He has not been announced for the actual SmackDown on FOX broadcast given that he’s already been written off storyline at SummerSlam. For now, MSG has Cena scheduled to team with The Street Profits – Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.
Super Smackdown lineups already confirmed by WWE
Last Friday, WWE has announced the below line-up for Super SmackDown from Madison Square Garden,
* Brock Lesnar will return to SmackDown since 2019 fall following his big return at SummerSlam
* SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair will sign the Women’s Title Match Contract for Extreme Rules 2021 pay-per-view event.
* Seth Rollins vs. WWE Hall of Famer Edge II
Interestingly, Sasha Banks is still being advertised to appear on Super SmackDown by the WWE and MSG websites. The former Women’s Champion has been out of action since mid-August for an unknown reason. She missed SummerSlam 2021 as it was later noted that WWE officials were hopeful to get her back in action this week for the MSG taping. There’s still no confirmed update on her appearance while other names advertised for the show include Rey Mysterio, Kevin Owens, and WWE Intercontinental Champion King Shinsuke Nakamura.
The Undertaker is also being rumored to make an appearance on Super SmackDown via a video on the tron as WWE is likely to bring a tribute to the 9/11 incident as the event marks two decades, this week. However, nothing is confirmed in this regard, as well.
