Survivor Series 2023 is being hyped up in a big way where we would see some of the top names from the WWE roster performing. Being the final and one of the big four premium live events of the WWE calendar, it’s evident that the company will put up a huge show from the suburbs of Chicago where the return of CM Punk in his hometown is also expected.
What comes as a surprise is that WWE’s top-most name from the active roster, Roman Reigns is expected to miss the show. Following his return to TV during the season premiere of Smackdown on FOX, the expectation was that he was going to work both Crown Jewel and Survivor Series but new reports confirm that he will miss the latter show.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave this breaking news which might not exactly be great news for the fans in Chicago as Roman Reigns is currently not advertised for Survivor Series 2023, next month. If he doesn’t get added back to the show then it would mark the first time that he’d miss one of the “big four” PLEs since he claimed the Universal Title back in 2020.
Roman Reigns has been awarded an exclusive schedule on WWE programming despite being a dual champion in the company for the past three years. He’s allowed for time-off as and when required which mostly happens after the bigger premium live events hosted by the company. Survivor Series 2023 is one of those much-anticipated shows of the year that was supposed to feature him in the main event but that might not be the case.
Crown Jewel 2023: Title Rematch From WWE Backlash Announced For WWE PLE
In the absence of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, the Survivor Series 2023 event will retain the WarGames theme in the headliner scene just like the 2022 show. As of this writing, the men’s match could be having a Raw vs. Smackdown theme while there’s no confirmation on whether the women’s division match is happening or not.
As for Roman Reigns, he’s scheduled to take on LA Knight in a championship bout at Crown Jewel set for later this week. Given that he’s not likely appearing at Crown Jewel 2023, his next in-ring outing should happen at Royal Rumble 2024 in January.
