The Bella Twins are considered to be trailblazers in WWE history who contributed a lot to the Women’s division in their heyday and beyond. They have been part of numerous historic moments in the company but things haven’t been that easy for her. After all, they started at a point when WWE Women’s roster going through a low.

It was in 2007 that The Bella Twins signed a contract with the WWE. After getting introduced to the main roster in 2008, the two brought in their twin magic on WWE TV which was a unique presentation. The two eventually went on to become WWE Hall of Famers, but they had to struggle to receive regular television time with the company having the least to offer to their talents during the Ruthless Aggression Era.

As revealed by former WWE Writer Freddie Prinze Jr. on his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, The Bella Twins sent a warning to WWE Official more TV time or else they’d be gone. It was in 2012 that the twins indeed parted ways with the company before re-signing with the company in 2013.

Upon their return, WWE launched the Total Divas reality series centering around The Bella Twins’ lives which later got a spin-off named Total Bellas. Despite all the criticisms, the reality show did bring more audience to WWE’s competition around female superstars.

The Bella Twins were a major part of WWE Women’s Evolution

Prinze Jr. also believes that the show’s popularity played a major part in the history of women’s wrestling,

“I think The Bellas kinda blew up the women’s division, at least in WWE. Not to say there wasn’t women killing it all over the world in other promotions… When The Bellas came in there with that reality show, it genuinely changed the business.”

Total Divas started airing in 2013 and onwards on E Network. Two years later, in February 2015, the hashtag #GiveDivasAChance trended worldwide after a short tag team match between The Bella Twins and Emma and Paige on RAW. After this instance, WWE started taking their women’s wrestling in a more serious way by commencing the Divas Revolution/Women’s Evolution.
