Vince McMahon created this empire in the form of WWE which he also liked to call sports entertainment which was signified by Total Divas. It was an attempt on the company’s part to bring the mainstream aspect to wrestling using the popularity of their female superstars. This E Network program was invented to explore the entertainment aspect of those talents by showcasing their personal lives since 2013.

Backstage stories, vacations to scenic locales, actual fights, link-ups, and more controversial stories were portrayed on Total Divas regularly. The initial success of the show was also reflected through the two mainstays WWE Superstars Nikki, and Brie Bella, collectively known as The Bella Twins. The WWE Hall of Famers’ eventually got their spin-off show on Total Bellas.

As noted above, both Total and Total Bellas showed massive initial success which also contributed to the WWE Women’s Evolution. However, both the shows were eventually canceled by the E Network, down the road after airing from July 28, 2013, to December 10, 2019, while Total Bellas, aired from October 5, 2016, to January 28, 2021. A few reasons are there as to why the show was scrapped.

Total Divas came to an end soon after Ronda Rousey replaced The Bella Twins

Interestingly, the cancelation happened after Ronda Rousey was added to the mix so that the E Network could have used it to pull up the viewership. Before that, The Bella Twins were always the rating puller but as Total Bellas were invented, they lessened their appearances on the mainstay show, leaving an adverse effect on it.

The other negative impact on the cast members of Total Divas was that they were losing interest in appearing on the actual wrestling shows to become better competitors inside the squared circle. However, The Bellas leaving the show was the primary blow as they tried to focus on their families and kids.

The twin sisters also opened up on the real cause of their leaving Total Divas during an episode of The Bellas Podcast. Nikki Bella was going through a much-publicized breakup with John Cena and she wanted to maintain the privacy of her personal life,

“When we came to Napa and we fell in love with our life in Napa, we were just like, ‘Gosh, we really want to keep this private.’ And I have to say, it’s so hard having camera crews in your house. It’s difficult, it’s just tough.”

Nikki’s sister, Brie Bella was also dealing with a similar problem since her daughter Birdie is camera-shy alongside her husband Bryan Danielson. They both want to get rid of this TV aspect of their life. Being a good mother, Brie canceled the lucrative contract with the E Network which brought an end to their time on Total Divas, and Total Bellas, leading to a permanent closure of both these shows altogether.
