The Bella Twins never had the opportunity to get into wrestling in the traditional way that’s after learning the ropes from the inside scene. Rather, they got their job in the company after participating in the Diva Search contest. Initially, they were thought for TV in eye-candy roles but their popularity increased as time progressed as wrestlers and that aspect wasn’t received well by the WWE officials.
While speaking on The Sessions hosted by Renee Paquette, Nikki Bella talked about her time in WWE alongside her twin sister Brie Bella. The WWE Hall of Famer Bella recalled The Bella Twins winning the WWE Diva Of The Year award back in 2013. This was the second time that the duo grabbed that achievement via fan voting and this actually ended up upsetting the head honchos of the WWE.

“When Brie and I won Diva of the Year (in 2013), we got in trouble and we got yelled at. I remember, we came back so happy, and it was, ‘Oh, because you brought in all these new viewers and the women are now voting for you and all these new women are here.’ [Jaw] on the floor. Everyone around was on the floor like, ‘The Bella Twins are getting yelled at for being successful,’ Nikki Bella remembered.

The Bella Twins had seen so much success in and outside the WWE
The Bella Twins are considered to be trailblazers for the WWE as they expanded WWE’s audience with the reality shows Total Divas and Total Bellas. But prior to starring in those reality TV stars, they cemented their legacies by becoming WWE Divas Champions, separately. But that’s still not enough for many to stop spreading hatred toward them.
Nikki Bella is and will always remain the longest-reigning WWE Divas Champion who broke her neck for this business. Her hard work in or outside the wrestling business ultimately paid off as WWE indicted The Bella Twins into the Hall of Fame, a few years ago. But that certainly didn’t remove the desire to come back to the WWE for one more stint.
The Bella Twins were initially advertised for the 30th-anniversary episode of WWE Raw in January 2023 but they did not appear on the historic broadcast. It turned out that they weren’t booked in a significant way on that night which led them to rather focus on promotions around their latest reality TV series, Nikki Bella Says I Do.
