The wrestling veteran’s family didn’t want him to work
The Great Khali was only eight when he started working thanks to the fact that the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, prohibiting anyone from employing a child for work was yet to be implemented. Dropping out of school was his choice but his family was strictly against the idea.
Starting as a caregiver to plant nursery, The Great Khali worked as a security guard for a businessman in the city of Shimla, before securing a role in the Punjab Police in the 1990s. It was then that he started hitting the gym and his aspirations of becoming a wrestler also began.
