Money in the Bank has been one of the most popular and unprecedented events in the WWE calendar that changes the title picture in a big way. Earlier this year, the 2022 edition produced two ladder matches from the Men’s and Women’s Divisions. Liv Morgan had already exercised her title match contract via that ladder match win to become a champion.
Also, Austin Theory became Mr. Money in the Bank by winning the Men’s counterpart when he climbed the ladder and grabbed the briefcase. That win earned him a guaranteed title shot but he’s dropped the opportunity. WWE apparently had some unique plans around his cash-in that had never been seen on WWE programming.
WWE Money In The Bank Ladder Matches Coming Back To Wrestlemania From 2023?
WrestleVotes recently had a conversation with GiveMeSport, and they claimed that an idea was pitched where Austin Theory would hold the briefcase for one full year. Hence, he would attempt to cash it in at the last minute. A situation could be created where he would be dealing with a deadline to cash in his Money in the Bank contract,
“There is an idea that he is the first guy to wait a full year, like the day of or let’s say night of Money in the Bank next year. That’s the storyline, like ‘you have to cash this in in two and a half hours. You have to cash this in in 90 minutes.’ That type of thing. I know that idea is on the table.”

Ideas were nurtured for the 2022 Money in the Bank contract cash-in
It was also noted in the report that this was the idea that the head of the creative team, Triple H was currently going with since it’s being discussed and that it wasn’t off the table. No word is there on the specific plans that WWE possibly has for Theory. For the time being, he is expected to remain as one of the featured performers on WWE programming despite complaints about poor booking around him.
After a long wait, Theory was planned to cash in his Money in the Bank contract but no one can say who the top champion(s) could have been next summer. He often teased in the past about coming for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, but most recently he’s also teased about cashing it in on NXT Champion Bron Breakker. Ultimately, he dropped it against Seth Rollins’ United Stated Championship.
Theory has captured the Money in the Bank briefcase on this year’s July 2, the day of the premium live event centered around the ladder match. He has since gone through several failed attempts at cashing in his contract. Most infamously, he was knocked out by Tyson Fury at Clash at the Castle in September after which he teased about cashing in on the NXT Champion.
