Going by the speculations, WWE is looking forward to getting some NXT Superstars on the main roster and the name includes Toni Storm in it. At present, the talents from the NXT brand are getting tryout matches before Raw or SmackDown as the company prepares to make plans with those particular talents. Just like last week, several Superstars competed in dark matches before SmackDown this week.
According to the reports of PW Insider, Shotzi Blackheart, Toni Storm, Karrion Kross, and Odyssey Jones have received tryouts prior to SmackDown, this week. Kross’ manager cum real-life girlfriend Scarlett received the same treatment, last week but it wasn’t noted whether she was around, or accompanying Kross, this week. The reported matches that went down are as follows,
*Shotzi Blackheart vs. Toni Storm.
*Odyssey Jones vs. Robert Roode.
*Karrion Kross vs. Cesaro.
Karrion Kross and Shotzi Blackheart have attended main roster tryouts in the past while Toni Storm’s name seems to be a special mention. The youngster from New Zealand with huge potential competed in her first dark match at the ThunderDome and it has left some fans very much excited as it could be hinting toward a main roster debut.
Odyssey Jones is someone who hasn’t received that much focus on the black and gold brand, to date but that doesn’t mean he can’t expect a call-up on the main roster. The cross-over athlete has been grinding at the Performance Center for some time to set himself up for the big stage. Real name Omari Palmer, he is a former college football player who signed with WWE NXT and was part of the February 2019 Performance Center class.
Toni Storm is getting the attention, as of late
As for Toni Storm, she’s already a renowned performer all over the indie scene, across the world. While entering the WWE scene, she made a huge impression by winning the Mae Young Classic tournament. The second-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion gradually transitioned from NXT UK to NXT proper back in October of 2020 after an eight-month hiatus.
Starting from late 2020, Toni Storm has challenged twice for the NXT Women’s Championship but she came up short on both occasions. Her most recent match that happened NXT was on May 11, where she defeated Zoey Starks in singles action. Recently, debuting Sarray wanted a match against her which NXT General Manager William Regal took under consideration.
Last week, Toni Storm took over WWE NXT’s Instagram as part of NXT announcing that she is a bisexual person,
“Well I guess now is a good time to say both. I’m an ally and I cannot exactly say that I’m straight. I’m bi and it feels good to say. And it’s something I’ve been really comfortable with for a long time. I just never really expressed it. I don’t know, I just never really found the right time. And it’s Pride Month and I’m on your Instagram, so now’s a good time I guess.”
