Two big returns took place at NXT TakeOver 31 event as Toni Storm and Ember Moon made their way back on WWE TV. They both appeared as a potential future threat for the reigning NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai. This keeps the door wide open for creative ideas in the female division of the black and yellow brand.
Io Shirai had a clean win over Candice LeRae to retain her title at NXT TakeOver 31 after which Toni Storm appeared on the big screen to announce that she is back on the main NXT brand. We should note, that she is listed on the NXT UK roster, till now.

Toni Storm – Ember Moon Returned At WWE NXT TakeOver 31
As for Ember Moon, she was revealed to be the former champion whom NXT was using for the recent mystery vignettes on TV. Proving everyone wrong, the blue brand star also made her return to TV right after the reigning NXT Women’s Champion had a successful defense against LeRae.
Toni Storm sent a warning to Shirai promising that she would be back to turn the NXT brand upside down, making it Toni Time, (pointing to her gimmick) once again. Shirai didn’t speak out but rather gave her a nod which was followed with a thumbs up. Sooner she had to turn her attention to another return that was happening.

Another big screen was showing that a motorcycle had arrived at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida that was previously known as the WWE Performance Center. The motorcycle pulled around the building from which Ember Moon appeared on the stage. She removed her helmet to reveal her identity as the crowd greeted her with big cheers. Moon had a staredown at the ring as Shirai looked back.
It seems like Io Shirai will have to deal with two new potential challengers in Ember Moon and Toni Storm.
Toni Storm is a former NXT UK Women’s Champion and Mae Young Classic winner. She has been on the NXT UK brand but per the storyline stipulations, she is not allowed to challenge for the title as long as the current champion Kay Lee Ray is holding that title.
Ember Moon, who also won the NXT Women’s Title once before, was called to the main roster in April 2018 but then she tore her Achilles tendon during a WWE 24/7 Title segment back on September 24, 2019. She has been out of action since then which could have been a possibly career-ending threatening injury due to complications. Before making her return on NXT, she also worked for the SmackDown roster.
