A Video game is a very popular media to hype any program. Every sports event uses video games to lift their promotion. The first ever game on WWE/F released in 1987 with the name of Micro league Wrestling. It was released for separated platforms such as Amiga, Atari ST, Commoder 64 and MS Dos. Though, it was not actually a wrestling game, it was more of a simulation based strategy game. The first WWE game to include wrestling was WWF WrestleMania for the Nintendo Entertainment System which was released in January 1989, followed by WWF Superstars released on May of the same year for Arcade. Since then a total of 51 games on WWE/F have been released. Some got huge acclaim, some failed to impress the gamers. In this feature, we shall discuss about the top 10 video games on WWE till now.
10. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 (Platforms :PS2, PSP) : the game was released in November, 2005. SVR 2006 was a very good game, much better than its previous version. It had some changes such as the Still cage match was improved. A new diva match called ‘Fulfill your Fantasy match’ was introduced in this game which replaced the Bra and Panties match. Gameplay graphics also improved, the arena crowd was created by 3D characters. Its season mode was really fun to play, though it was too short. It featured two different storylines in season mode, one for Smackdown and one for Raw.
9. WWF Raw(1994) (Platforms : SNES, Sega 32X, Genesis, Game boy, Game Gear) : The game looked similar to its previous versions Super WrestleMania and Royal Rumble, but with some new features, and if you review this game by keeping in mind of the time it was released, it was a superb game. The survivor series tag team elimination match and the Raw endurance match were introduced in this game. The Royal Rumble match was also really fun to play.
8. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 (Platforms : PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, X Box 360, Mobile) : the game got it’s recognition for its ‘Story Designer’ mode. SVR 10 allows gamers to create their dream storyline, something fans were really delighted to have. The Royal Rumble match was also modified with a new way of elimination which was really fun. The game had lots of changes, like inter-gender were no longer allowed. Divas could also feature in Hell in a Cell, First Blood, and Elimination chamber matches. SVR 10 was the first game to feature championship scramble match.
7. WWE 13 (Platforms : PS3, Nintendo Wii, X-Box 360) : The latest game of WWE but certainly not the best one. The best thing about this game was The Attitude Era mode which replaced the road to WrestleMania mode. A season of 65 matches spread out over a 2 year season, the Attitude Era Mode allows players to play through a variety of storylines, in turn, the player will switch superstars as they complete storylines. Gameplay graphics has also improved a lot. If some feature of this game is no good, that is its commentary.
