CM Punk cashes in on Edge during post-Night of Champions 2008 Raw
CM Punk’s path to becoming the next top guy in the WWE started with his world championship win by cashing in the Money in the Bank contract on someone who made those cash-ins famous. Ironically, Punk victimized Edge who invaded Raw only to be destroyed by his then-rival Batista after Night of Champions 2008.
The Straight Edge Leader ran in to feast on the carcass of Edge and one GTS later, he stood as the new World Heavyweight Champion. This was a great way from WWE’s perspective to give a push to the then super-babyface Punk by letting his Money in the Bank contract utilize against the then super heel Edge.
