Edge cashes in on John Cena at New Year’s Revolution 2006
Edge won the first-ever Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21 Hollywood edition in 2005. But the concept of utilizing this opportunity for a championship win was still not clear to the WWE Universe until Edge showed the way in the most vicious way possible.
At New Year’s Revolution 2006, John Cena successfully defended his WWE Championship against five other superstars in a brutal elimination chamber match. Covered in blood, Cena could barely stand when Edge came out and demanded a new WWE Title Match to be started. It took him two Spears to win the championship as the WWE Universe remained speechless. That moment also saw the rise of a bonafide new main eventer in Edge for years to come.
